Trade union representatives from Eurocop affiliated unions in Bulgaria, Germany, Romania and Slovenia gathered at a seminar organised  by the Education department of the European Trade Union Institute and the European Confederation of Police in order to

bullet

examine the state of play of social dialogue in the police sector at national level in the represented countries

bullet

exchange experiences and best practices in the field of social dialogue

bullet

discuss further cooperation among Eurocop's affiliated organisations

The participants exchanged information about their respective organisations, the issues dealt with and the problems those unions are facing. The reasons why Police Trade Unions have been established and why police employees should join trade unions where discussed after several national presentations. (Download those presentations from the "Documents" folder of this Web Site.)

In working groups the participants discussed

bulletWhat kind of goals their trade union could try to reach within the forthcoming year.
bulletWhat kind of issues would be most relevant for the workforce on a short term
bulletWhat kind of action plan would be needed to reach those goals and to deal with those issues
bulletHow such a campaign or action plan should be implemented in order to involve reps at workplace level and the members

Several presentations about successful campaigns regarding wages, working conditions and health and safety at work were analyzed and material produced and used by German, Norwegian, Danish and other affiliates of Eurocop aiming at influencing public opinion and national or regional authorities were assessed.
